Parents Code of League Ethics
By registering a child at GYFL, you agree to abide by the following:
1. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, cheerleaders, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, and all other GYFL or TYFA event.
2. I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.
3. I will insist that my child participate in a safe and healthy environment.
4. I will provide support for the coaches and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
5. I will demand a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free environment for my child and agree to refrain from their use at all games, practices, and events.
6. I will remember that the program is for the children and not the adults.
7. I will do my best to make youth sports fun for my child and all of the children that participate by supporting the rules of GYFL and TYFA.
8. I will ask my child to treat other players, cheerleaders, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
9. I will require that my child’s coaches be certified and trained in the responsibilities of being a youth sports coach and that the coach upholds the NYSCA Coaches Code of Ethics.
10. I will agree to support the decision of the GYFL Coaches with regard to team placement of players. I understand that considerations of age, experience, ability, and desire play a key role in the safety and development of all participants.
11. I will help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan, and assisting the coach or team mom.
12. I understand that GYFL is operated by volunteers, including myself. It is my responsibility as a member of GYFL to assist with duties and projects as needed. I will support the efforts of the league in creating and maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere and a trash free environment that we can all be proud of.
13. I understand that GYFL operates off of funds solicited through corporate sponsors and optional fundraising activities. I will support the efforts of GYFL in raising funds so that we may keep this sport as affordable as possible.
14. I will inform the proper GYFL authorities of any coaches, officials, parents, players or cheerleaders wrong doing immediately.
15. I will not publicly question the honesty, integrity, or judgment of the volunteer coaches or other adult volunteers. I understand that verbal and physical abuse is not tolerated.
